My First Model UN Training Conference is open to recognized student organizations at public, private and parochial schools. High school and middle school students attending must be accompanied by a faculty sponsor or parent chaperone. Students registering without a faculty sponsor must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian throughout the conference.
Q: When & where is the conference?
A: The conference will take place on Saturday, Oct. 12th 2019 at Marshall High School, and will last from 7:45 am to 4:15 pm. In the morning delegates will attend informational sessions to improve their Model UN skills, and after lunch they will participate in a Model UN committee session chaired by visiting members of University MUN clubs.
Q: How much does it cost to attend the conference?
A: There are two costs associated with attending the conference. The first fee, a school fee of $40, secures your school’s spot in the conference. The second fee, a per student fee of $30, is assessed for each student that the school brings to the conference.
Q: What payment methods are acceptable?
A: We cannot accept credit cards, only cash or checks. You may write a check from a school account or collect checks from each of your delegates. These checks should be made out to GCM MUN.
Q: Where do I send the payments?
A: To Marshall High School, care of Mr. Matthew Hanlon (French teacher & club co-sponsor). PLEASE MAKE CHECKS PAYABLE TO "GCM MUN".

Q: How many students can my school bring?
A: The more the merrier! However, our conference is very popular and fills up fast. You area encouraged to sign up and send your school fee (which will guarantee your school's spot) ASAP. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Q: How should students prepare on the day of the conference?
A: Be sure to wear western business attire (suits, slacks, button down shirts for boys, and dresses, slacks, skirts, and blouses for girls) and eat breakfast before you leave!
Q: Will there be food at the conference?
A: YES! Pizza will be served for lunch and and students may also make use of the vending machines on premise. If you (or your student) is lactose-intolerant, or has some other food allergy, please let us know ASAP so we can make other accommodations.
Q: When do my students find out what country they are representing?
A: Your school will get their country assignments once registration closes and your school fee has been collected. One country will be assigned for every eight students, so a school bringing only eight students would get one country assignment, while a school bringing twelve students would get two.
Q: Will my students work in pairs for the afternoon sessions?
A: YES. Our conference is designed to make each participant feel comfortable in their first Model UN conference. Pairing students together gives them the opportunity to collaborate with one another and share responsibilities. We highly suggest that you assign two students to each country in order to give them the best experience.
